I just read a really nice article from the Magazine of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Since many of you may not read this I thought I would post some of the highlights of the article here.  The article is titled "Role of Pleasing your Child is one of Futility"

"Children gain strength, confidence and proficiency as they struggle through their challenges......Providing an environment with age-appropriate limits, time and space to practice, encouragement along the way, and loving empathy when they struggle is the best use of our energy....Our goal is to gently lead them to self-evaluate and discover solutions for themselves....with an attitude of loving support, void of criticism and judgment...A vital life lesson also is learned in the mistakes and failures, with us lovingly by their side."

and don't we all want strong, confident, proficient children today and leaders of tomorrow.
